Sub Zero refrigerators are a very popular style today…

Not that long ago a bunch of friends of mine and I were watching television. We were all enjoying some cold beer and pretzels while talking about a variety of different topics. All of a sudden, we stumbled upon a television program that showed off really big homes owned by famous people. In addition to a bunch of really amazing furniture, as well as garages filled with luxurious cars, we noticed kitchens that have some of the most amazing appliances you can imagine.

In particular, we noticed that many of the refrigerators were sub zeros. Let me tell you something: these are some of the most incredible refrigerators you will ever witness in your entire life. To begin with, they are about twice as big as traditional refrigerators. They usually have two doors, then you open them outward. The amount of space contained within a sub zero is nothing short of amazing. The show that we were watching depicted celebrities who could literally afford anything that they wanted. As a result, the refrigerators that they were showing off were stocked with some of the most delicious food and beverages you can imagine.

After the show ended and my friends left, I decided to do some research.I wanted to find out how available are not these particular refrigerators were and how much they might cost. Needless to say, these are very expensive refrigerators. In fact, you can sometimes order a custom-made version of a sub zero refrigerator. I even saw a few examples where people had this refrigerator installed in their recreational vehicle. Can you imagine? That has got to be one of the coolest experiences ever — traveling down the highway knowing that when you stop you will be able to reach into your giant sub zero refrigerator and pull out a cold beverage of your choice.

There are a few things you will want to keep in mind if you decide to purchase one of these refrigerators. The first thing to keep in mind is that if you live in a remote area, you will want to make sure that there is a service center located reasonably nearby. In other words, if you’re for refrigerator breaks down you will want to have a way to get it fixed without having to wait forever. Something else you will want to keep in mind is that retailers often offer an extended warranty on these refrigerators. So the question is whether or not it makes sense to purchase an extended warranty.

Based on my research, these refrigerators are extremely reliable. The manufacturer usually offers a 3 to 5 year warranty. So what you need to figure out is whether or not you think your refrigerator will need to be serviced after the manufacturer’s warranty expires. Based on all the reviews that I read online, you can probably get away with not purchasing an extended warranty. On the other hand, if you like the peace of mind that comes from knowing that everything is covered — an extended warranty on a sub zero refrigerator might make sense…

Top Freezer refrigerators are a very popular style today…

If you are in the market for a new refrigerator, an important decision you will have to make is whether or not the refrigerator you purchase has a freezer that is located on top or on the bottom. There are a lot of different opinions about which configuration happens to be best. In my opinion, top freezer refrigerators are the safest bet. Why? Primarily because it has the potential to save the day should you ever injure your back.

Let’s face it, accidents are part of life. You could be walking down the street and stumble on something that was left on the sidewalk and find yourself with an injured back. I know that this may sound ridiculous, but it happens. Now imagine you’re back at home and you like to make yourself a quick and easy microwave meal. What happens if you have a bottom freezer? That means you need to bend down the slide to freezer open and read your microwave meal. I don’t know about you, but the last time I injured my lower back I was barely able to move — let alone bend over to reach into a freezer! With a top freezer refrigerator, the aforementioned hypothetical situation will not be a problem. All you have to do is simply walk up to your refrigerator and open up the freezer which will be at eye level.

There are also some stylistic considerations to take into account. Some people really do not like the idea of having a freezer located at the bottom of one’s refrigerator. They simply prefer having the freezer on top. Believe it or not, very few refrigerators have their freezers configured to be on the bottom. The overwhelming majority of refrigerators are top freezer setups.

There is actually a historical reason for this. In the past, refrigerators provided an environment in which to keep food cool that was powered by large ice cubes. These large ice cubes were typically placed on the top part of the refrigerator. Because cold air has a tendency to travel downward, the cold air from these large ice cubes would travel down into the body of the refrigerator itself. The area where these large ice cubes had typically been located began to be referred to as the freezer. Do you understand? In other words, had early refrigerators located the large ice cubes on the bottom part of the refrigerator, the cold air would not have reached the food. Why? To repeat, cold air typically goes down (not up).

Here’s the bottom line: if you’re in the market for a new refrigerator, one of the decisions you will have to make is whether or not to purchase of refrigerator that has a freezer that is located on the top of the refrigerator or one that is located on the bottom of refrigerator. Nowadays, there is no practical advantage to having it set up either way. In other words, the freezer has no effect on whether or not the rest of the food in your refrigerator remains cold…

If you are looking for a great refrigerator keep this Kitchen
Aid Refrigerator on the top of your list.

I have owned this Kitchen Aid stainless refrigerator of a little over a year and a half and I must say this
is a great refrigerator.

I remodeled my kitchen and did extensive research to figure out which appliances I should purchase and Kitchen
Aid looked to me to be one of the best brands available in my price range. I looked at some of the Sub Zero stuff
but it was about twice the price.

I decided to get the Kitchen Aid for a several reasons:

Wider doors give more storage room

Shorter depth means easier visibility

I can get things without moving other things around

The dispensers on the door are lit if you need

Makes ice as cubed or crushed

Water dispenses as chilled, not cold

Stainless steel exterior is good quality

The shelves are glass (which makes them easy to clean)

The drawers have plenty of room

The refrigerator door has a large amount of storage

The quality of construction surpasses many of the flimsier and not-so-cheap other brands

Key Features

ENERGY STAR® qualified and exceeds minimum federal energy standards by 20%

Integrated and flush electronic through-the-door ice & water dispenser provides a flush,
aesthetically pleasing look

ExtendFresh™ Plus Temperature Management System ensures ingredients remain fresh for maximum taste and
texture

AquaSense™ In-Door-Ice® ice dispensing system has an ice bucket located in the door to increase freezer
capacity

Quick-fill water dispenser fills containers twice as fast as previous models

Here is a cleaning tip for the stainless steel exterior:

* You do not need to purchase expensive cloths embedded with a cleaning product to keep the stainless steel free of
marks. Make your own mixture (50/50) of white vinegar and water in a spray bottle. Buy a soft, washable cloth and
use it with the mixture to wipe off all of your Kitchen Aid appliances.

I would buy this Kitchen Aid refrigerator/freezer again!

Find the best dorm refrigerator to fit your students needs.

Now let’s take a look at dorm refrigerators. Let’s start by defining what a dorm is. The word is dorm is short for dormitory. A dormitory typically refers to a place where college student lives while taking classes. The reason why dormitory refrigerators came into existence is because of the size of the typical dormitory. We are talking about a room that is generally 200 feet in size. To put this into perspective, think about a large walk-in closet. At many schools, that is the size of the typical dormitory.

Dorm refrigerators are usually a lot smaller than the refrigerators that we are used to seeing inside of a typical kitchen found in a large suburban residence. Not only are they easier to transport, they are very easy to set up and as previously mentioned do not take up a lot of space. These particular types of refrigerators have a tendency to be extremely popular amongst students who do not have a lot of disposable income yet who would like to have a way to keep food in their dormitory. More often than not, these refrigerators will have a small built-in freezer. A quick word of warning about the size of freezers within dormitory refrigerator’s — they’re very small! For example, let’s say you decide to visit your local grocery store at one clock in the morning. Your goal is to pick up a few frozen meals that you can then prepare for yourself as the week progresses.

If you are not careful, you might end up purchasing far more in the way of frozen meals than what your little refrigerator can handle. I learned this the hard way when I purchase a variety of microwavable meals only to discover that only two of them fit into the freezer. What a nightmare!

If you are looking for the best deal possible on a dormitory refrigerator, here are a few tips. First, you may want to spend some time cruising the Internet for advertisements placed by people who are selling their small refrigerators. Another option is to wait until the end of the school year. You can basically go to one of the many flea markets that are sponsored by the school once all of the students have moved out. Believe it or not, a lot of graduating seniors will simply leave their dormitory refrigerators behind in the dormitories themselves. They do this because they figured that they will not really have a use for the refrigerators once they graduate. This gives you the opportunity to purchase relatively new dorm refrigerators at a fraction of the price that you’d otherwise pay.

Here’s the bottom line: dorm refrigerators have existed for a very long time. They serve a very useful purpose. Not only are they small and compact, but they also do a very good job at keeping your food cold. So if you are planning to live in a dormitory for any length of time and you would like to have the convenience of a refrigerator without having to take up a lot of space that you have with a full-size refrigerator, the dorm refrigerator is probably a good choice for you…

General Electric Refrigerators deals and reviews of the top models…

GE : GFSS6KEXSS 25.8 cu. ft. French-Door Refrigerator

This refrigerator has stainless steel doors with hidden hinges. It has a very top of the line “designer” look because of the stylish contoured doors. This refrigerator uses dual evaporators called climate keeper – to maintain the higher humidity levels fresh foods require. It has easy to reach and read temp controls that have the actual temperature from inside the refrigerator displayed. This refrigerator comes with a factory installed ice maker with a water filter to ensure great fresh filtered ice. This refrigerator has two humidity controlled drawers and one full length drawer for large items that need to be stored. The interior lights in this refrigerator have a natural looking glow through the whole refrigerator. the freezer uses large and medium freezer baskets to give you easy access to your frozen food items. This refrigerator uses adjustable raised edge shelves to help contain a spill inside the refrigerator and make cleaning a spill very easy. The doors pull shut very secure.

GE : GSH25JFXCC Refrigerator

I was looking at this refrigerator and overall I like the way it looks. The handles seem to be built a bit on the cheap side though. This refrigerator seems to be a bit loud when it cycles on. I don’t know if they could of done something about this in the design process, but if this is going to be close to a living area you may want to consider the noise it puts off. This is a bottom freezer refrigerator and is the type I was looking for but because of these few reasons I gave I decided to go with a different type of refrigerator.

GE : GSS20GEWWW Refrigerator

This GE side by side is a good looking refrigerator. GE has changed the way all of their side by side refrigerators look, for the better. The colors are new and refreshing and new looking controls are a major improvement. The crowning doors and hidden hinges really make the refrigerators look nice. They also have a very sleek feel to them now as well. These refrigerators have very modern looking style. This one also has the adjustable humidity controlled drawers, which is great to keep all of your fruits and vegetables fresh. The control for setting the temperatures is located on the outside of the refrigerator, on the door, and it allows you to set all of the functions of the refrigerator from it. The water dispenser gives you clean fresh filtered water and can dispense water up to 100 ounces per minute.

General Electric GSHS9NGYSS (29.1 cu. ft.) Side by Side Refrigerator

The General Electric GSHS9NGYSS (29.1 cu. ft.) Side by Side Refrigerator has a capacity of 29.1 cu. ft. Also, this product is Energy Star compliant, which means it is one of the most energy-efficient products in its class and usually exceeds federal energy-use standards. GE is one of the largest manufacturers of major appliances in the world, producing Monogram, GE Profile Performance, GE Profile, GE and Hotpoint brands as well as several private-label brands.

There’s nothing small about this refrigerator; from the massive ice maker to the extra large door bins… there is space for everything. And even with all of this interior storage space (29.1 cu ft), the exterior size is no larger that a typical 25-26 cu ft refrigerator.

Finally a side by side freezer that can store frozen pizzas easily with plenty of room for everything else. And what’s really great about the freezer is that there are adjustable shelves and door bins so you can fit all your favorite frozen items.

I had researched a lot of refrigerators and was dissatisfied with the size and performance limitations of most of the ice makers. I wanted ice through the door (including crushed ice) and also thought the ice maker should be in the freezer, not take up extra space in the refrigerator as so many of the ‘French door’ models do. This one gave me both, effectively and efficiently.

This is not a ‘Profile’ series, but GE sure got it right with this extra large side by side refrigerator… and it’s Energy Star rated, too.

The stainless steel color matches well with all of my other GE Profile appliances. Looks terrific!

Over all General Electric Refrigerators have made many improvements in there refrigerators over the years…

Best review:

“This is the Best refrigerator we have ever owned. We are in our 60′s and owned a few. Having everything in easy
view and access is really great. We have owned the MF12665XE for almost 3 months and can’t think of anything we
would change on the styling or configeration of the unit. We originally bought the Maytag MF12569VEM SS French Door
for $1200 with free delivery and take away during Home Depot December Stimulus Get the Country Back to Work Sale.
They sold so many that Maytag ran out of the 2010 model and replaced it with the is 2011 model MF12665XE SS. We
like the new layout of this one better re-designing the inside left door for the icemaker. They added a different
icemaker allowing more storage on the door. Maytag listen to the reviewers and upgraded the icemaker to select
either cube or crushed ice instead of just cubed. The cubed ice is just the right size, not to big or small. Most
of the time we enjoy the crushed ice. The icemaker does take some getting use to so some ice does not end up on the
floor or ice tray in either mode. Not a big deal. Other wise the icemaker works excellent so a few stray pieces of
ice should not be a deal breaker. We also enjoy the full width of the frig Deli Drawer. It is great because you can
spread things out and see everything in it or put a super size sandwich or other long items in it. Having a fruit
drawer and a veggie drawer that works right is a dream. We cannot believe how long the lettuce and other veggies
keep in this french door unit. We also love how easy the the bottom freezer compartments pull out. The top freezer
tray is great for TV dinners and smaller frozen times and the large compartment slides easily and is enough to hold
your large items. I really like how it keeps ice cream. It does not get soft or frosty like our old one. The
refrigerator has a fairly large foot print that kind of worried us but once installed it looks and fits great. We
really enjoy having a french door refrigerator and recommend this product. We would also like the Home Depot
Delivery Team. They were very friendly and and upbeat and did a great job getting it upstairs in what I would call
a not so easy install or take away. They even had to take off and put back on the back gate and bring it up the
back stairs to get it in. It was a good experience.”

Critical Reviews:

“I have a Maytag Ice2O french door bottom freezer/refrigerator. The front panel lights are all blinking and the
ice dispensor exit is opening and closing. It stopped for a bit and now wont dispense ice or water. The filter is
less than three months old (changed in early June). The water pressure is fine in the back, nothing else seams to
be wrong.

I have sent an email to maytag, but it may take four or five days to get an answer. If anyone knows what might be
going on or has a suggestions please let me know. When it starts doing it again I am going to take video of it.

The ice maker does appear to still be making ice, but it no longer dispenses ice or water from the front.

As of this morning, no word from maytag on when they will be out. All is fuctioning on the inside (lights are
coming on, still cool inside, freezer is still frozen, etc) – the lights were not flashing this morning.

I spoke with Maytag this afternoon. They are sending someone over on Monday – since we did get the
extended warrenty it is covered. Even with it being “out” for the last few days the freezer is still frozen and the
refrigerator is still pretty cool (for having two kids who refuse to not open it) – stayed under 45 f until this
afternoon. I just put some dry ice in it to keep it cool.”

“This model is similar to one we purchased two years ago. We had problems with water leaking from the door from
the start, but an independant repairman was able to fix that with teflon tape. Maytag told us to just flush the
system again and again. Now the fridge runs, but does not cool. The repairman says it will be $700 to fix, but that
no Maytag is worth that. He says it will be nothing but trouble and we’re better off buying a Kitchenaide and
accepting our losses. Over 2000 down the tubes! But at least were free of the repair bills.”

Our website has great deals on the best rated refrigerators to fit your family’s needs.

When choosing a refrigerator to best fit your needs you should first look at where your refrigerator will be located and measure the available area to make sure you get the proper size refrigerator. You also need to figure out which style of refrigerator will be the best for you and your family.

There are many styles of refrigerators to choose from like, side by side refrigerator style, where the freezer and refrigerator are split down the middle with the freezer on one side and refrigerator on the opposite side, single door refrigerator where there is no freezer at all and you have one single door, top or bottom style freezers, French door refrigerator styles where the refrigerator doors open up like a side by side refrigerator and the freezer is a pull out or single door, and also cabinet depth refrigerators that are not as deep so they don’t stick out past your kitchen cupboards.

One important consideration is to figure out if you will be using your refrigerator for frozen food or fresh food more frequently. If you use more frozen foods then your best option would be a top freezer style because the freezer is located on top so you can see the frozen food better. If you store and use more fresh food a bottom freezer would style would be a good choice as it puts the refrigerated foods on top so you can see them better. Side by side refrigerators are best if you need the most storage space with both frozen and fresh foods.

Figure out how much room you need by stocking your refrigerator and freezer with enough for one full week’s worth of food for your family all the time. This is where it is important to think about the types of fresh foods you will be storing, as there are many choices in refrigerators that have specialized compartments for vegetables and fruit, setting humidity levels and separate temperature controls for different compartments in certain types of refrigerators.

Ultimately you will need to know and stick to your budget, there is no need to spend extra money on features you may not need or use. Of course the more options a refrigerator has the more it will cost so if you are on a tight budget you should look at a traditional top freezer style as this will be the cheapest style refrigerator available. Top freezer style refrigerators also seem to have fewer problems because they don’t have as many features that can cause problems. The other consideration with top freezer style refrigerators is they are not as energy efficient as the bottom freezer styles. If you are on a very tight budget you may want to also consider previous year end and discontinued models or even a scratch and dent type floor model refrigerators.

Finally the best rated refrigerators today come with an energy star rating. The bright yellow tag that shows how much energy the refrigerator uses. This is a general guide to show how energy efficient your refrigerator is compared to other similar models. By all means try to get the most efficient model in the style that you can afford but don’t base your decision on this factor alone. These numbers are for the most part just a general idea of how the refrigerator should do but there are many factors that can change how efficient this will be in your home, from location to how often you clean the coils to make sure plenty of air is circulating behind and under your refrigerator.

Find the best rated refrigerators possible for the best deal you can find but take your time and think about it for a day before you purchase. Stay in your budget and make sure the refrigerator will fit through your door and fit in the spot you need it to go in…

French door refrigerators are a very popular style today…

French door refrigerators are easy to spot. The doors typically open outward to either side of the refrigerator. And yes, French door refrigerators have two doors. So what makes these kinds of refrigerator so popular, that you consider purchasing one for yourself or as a gift for someone special?

One of the reasons why these refrigerators became so popular is thanks in part to television food networks. These are television programs and stations that air nothing but cooking shows. Obviously, the focus of these programs is to help people learn how to cook different meals. If you have ever watched one of these programs, you know that the camera focuses on the meal preparation process. As a result, it’s nearly impossible to ignore what kind of oven is being used and you almost always see the stove that is being used. Have you ever taken a look in the background? What you usually see? But a lot of these cooking shows you see French door refrigerators.

I’ll be the first to admit that I typically do not take advice from celebrities and I certainly do not make purchase decisions based on what I see on television. However, French door refrigerators have enjoyed some of the best marketing ever known and most people never even realized that they were being marketed to. Believe it or not, French door refrigerator manufacturers paid promotional considerations to the television programs that display their refrigerators. For the most part, these happen to be cooking shows.

You see the chef creating spectacular dishes. You hang on every word and you try to jot down as many tips as possible. Little do you realize that you are subconsciously being programmed to like French door refrigerators! If you study where these refrigerators are located, you will notice that they typically always appear in the background. So while the chef is maneuvering around the stove or oven, a view of the refrigerator is always in the picture frame.

As a result of the subliminal marketing, French door refrigerator started flying off the shelves. Let’s be honest — they are extremely good looking refrigerators. Not only do they look good, but they are also extremely functional. There is a lot of shelf space which allows you to organize your refrigerator in a logical manner. Not to mention, some French door refrigerators even have built-in water dispensers. This is great if you enjoy drinking water that is both cold and filtered — that’s right, filtered water!

The next time you go shopping for new refrigerator, take a careful look at the French door refrigerators that may be available at the store your shopping at. I recommend that you do some comparison shopping before making your final selection. You may discover that a French door refrigerator is exactly what you’re looking for.

One quick word of caution. If you decide to purchase a new refrigerator, always ask the retailer if they will take away the old refrigerator that is in your kitchen. Most will do this for you, but you need to make sure. With your old refrigerator out of the way, you will be free to enjoy your new French door refrigerator…
